SHIELDBEARER

THE CREED

This is what Shieldbearer believes. Not our words. Not a new position. The same ground the church has stood on for two thousand years.

Scripture

All the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the Word of God, fully inspired and without error in the original manuscripts, and are the infallible rule of faith and practice.

2 Timothy 3:16, 2 Peter 1:20-21, Isaiah 40:8

God

There is one living and true God, eternally existing in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, equal in power and glory. This triune God created all, upholds all, and governs all.

Deuteronomy 6:4, Matthew 28:19, 2 Corinthians 13:14

The Father

God the Father is an infinite, personal Spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power, and love. He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men. He hears and answers prayer. He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ.

John 4:24, Matthew 6:9, 1 Peter 5:7

The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is a divine person, equal with God the Father and God the Son. He convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment. He regenerates sinners and indwells believers at the moment of salvation. He is the seal and guarantee of our inheritance in Christ. He guides believers into all truth and empowers them for service and witness.

John 14:26, John 16:8, Ephesians 1:13-14

Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ is God's only begotten Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit. We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, and teachings; His substitutionary atoning death; bodily resurrection; ascension into heaven; perpetual intercession for His people; and personal, visible return to earth.

John 1:1, Philippians 2:5-11, 1 Corinthians 15:3-4, Acts 1:11

Salvation

All people are by nature separated from God and responsible for their own sin. Salvation, redemption, and forgiveness are freely offered to all by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Romans 3:23, Ephesians 2:8-9, John 3:16

Israel

The covenant God made with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob is everlasting. Israel has not been replaced by the Church. God remains faithful to His promises, and the day will come when all Israel will look on the One they pierced and be saved through her Messiah, Jesus Christ. We stand with Israel and pray for the peace of Jerusalem.

Romans 11:25-29, Zechariah 12:10, Psalm 122:6

This is the ground Shieldbearer stands on. Christ named plainly. Scripture as the authority. No additions. No subtractions.
