It trained audiences to accept fog where truth should be plain. The pattern is older than the music industry; gatekeepers in the Bible show up wherever someone decides they get to control access to God.
Distribution is no longer controlled by a handful of executives. Artists can publish directly and listeners can decide directly. The wall between source and audience is breaking, and that changes everything.
Shieldbearer proclaims Christ openly, answers for what it makes, and stands behind the work in public. Truth is tested in the light. That is the posture, and it does not change with the weather.
